Explore the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology collections
The spectacular field areas for this museum include the UNESCO World Heritage Sites Burgess Shale Walcott Quarry and Dinosaur Provincial Park. In this short course, the museum curators would take participants on a behind the scenes tour exploring the collections, preparation facilities and new discoveries such as the stomach contents in a juvenile tyrannosaurid (Gorgosaurus libratus). A spectacular paired field excursion would take delegates to examine past climate change illustrated by the Cretaceous dinosaur bone beds of Dinosaur Provincial Park.
